Mike Jarvis To Lakehead University
Mike Jarvis has become the first Barking Abbey Academy student to receive a basketball scholarship to a Canadian University after accepting a place at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Mike has spent two successful seasons at Barking Abbey Academy, helping the team to two National Finals as well as being a vital member of this years group that won the Interperformances Cup tournament, beating the England Cadet National team in the final.
Lakehead University is part of Canadian Inter University Sports, playing in the Ontario University Athletics League West Division. The Division is home to current Canadian National Champions, Brock University, as well as National Semi Finalists the University of Western Ontario.
Mike combined his time at Barking Abbey with representing the London Leopards at both junior and senior levels. He was a pivotal part, as the starting point guard, in the Leopards Junior team in their National Premier league campaign as well as featuring in a handful of games for the senior men's side in the England Basketball League Divison One.
Mike leaves Barking Abbey with a BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science and an AS Level in Design Technology.
