Coaching Staff


MARK CLARK - ACADEMY DIRECTOR
Mark recently coached Great Britain Senior Women, winning promotion in 2006-07 from Division B to Division A of the European Championships. Mark is an England Basketball Senior Coach. He has coached female National teams at U16, U18, U19 and Senior. He coached England to the Commonwealth Championship Gold Medal in 1991 and was the Assistant Coach for the Bronze Medal winning team in 2006. Mark has also coached in the professional Men's British Basketball League (BBL); was Assistant Coach when the London Leopards won back to back National Titles and the National Cup; and has coached at various levels in the English Basketball League (EBL). Mark has also won National Championships in age group boys competitions as Head Coach.
 
LLOYD GARDNER - DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS
Lloyd Gardner has worked at Barking Abbey for three years. He has recently attained the qualification of Level 3 Coach. He was a member of the Great Britain Senior Women's coaching staff with responsibility for advanced scouting and has worked with the England U16 Boys team. Lloyd has considerable international experience having worked many European camps including the Nike Basketball without Boarders camp and takes the lead role on the placement of Barking Abbey students in US Universities. Previously Lloyd has worked with the Reading Rockets Junior development programme. As a player Lloyd played professionally for the London Towers and the London Leopards in the BBL, including a year playing in the European Saporta Cup and spent two years at University in the USA before completing his education in the UK.
 
DAMIEN KENNEDY
Entering his first year at Barking Abbey, Damien has extensive experience in his native Ireland. A former Senior International, he has recently assisted with the Irish Senior Women's National team in their European B Division Championships.
 
RIKKI BROADMORE
Former Barking Abbey Academy Student, Rikki Broadmore, joins the coaching staff in 2009 whilst he rehabilitates from a knee injury sustained whilst playing. Rikki was a member of the academy from 2005-08 in which he participated in three interperformances cup competitions, two National Schools Finals and the Sabonis cup in Kaunas, Lithuania. Rikki combined his time at Barking Abbey with playing for the Reading Rockets and then Kent Crusaders in the EBL Division Two. With the Rockets, Rikki was part of the unbeaten 2007 U18 National Championship team and the 2006 National Championships Runners Up.
 
ALBERTO SANTOS
Alberto has recently moved to London from Madrid where he coached with youth teams connected to Estudiantes, one of the biggest club teams in Spain
